London's Afro house advocate shares his story.
In 2009, Sef Kombo posted a mixtape to his blog called Afro Power Volume 1. Smooth and soulful, it included tunes from artists that were fast becoming big names in house music circles, like Black Coffee and Culoe De Song. In the years since, Sef has pioneered the sound of Afro house in London. Though his parties Til Two, Motherland and Sessions have been put on hiatus during the pandemic, Sef's kept busy preparing for the launch of the Afro house-focused Sondela Recordings, a new record label affiliated with Defected.
Sef spoke to Aaron Coultate about his journey as a DJ, promoter and radio host, while also sharing his vision for Sondela.
